Lied Library offering stem kits for students to check out

The Lied Public Library in Clarinda is offering seven kits that focus on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

Library Director Andrew Hoppmann says the kits are made to educate children about these subjects at home.

"What's really neat about these kids is they allow the stem activities that are often found in schools to be taken home and be done at home with the family, with friends, because statistics have shown that just as much learning happens outside of the school as it does in the school.  And this is just a way that the library can help facilitate that by allowing patrons to check it out.  They don't have to come and only be at the library.  They can check it out and do it over the weekend to fit their schedule."

Hoppmann says the kits can be checked out for a week at a time.
